Marcelo and Karim Benzema are two of Real Madrid's most legendary players, but both will want to further climb up the club's list of record appearance makers.
The top 10 is largely made up of Spanish players, but the only foreigner ahead of the Brazilian and Frenchman is Roberto Carlos in seventh spot with 527, 22 games ahead of Marcelo and 26 in front of Benzema.
Raul Gonzalez (741), Iker Casillas (725), Manolo Sanchis (655), Sergio Ramos(640), Fernando Hierro (587) and Guti (542) make up the top six, while Michel is in eighth spot with 508, just ahead of Marcelo and Benzema.
However, the current uncertainty surrounding football has brought a halt to Marcelo and Benzema's hopes of jumping up this list. Time is not on their side.
Both players have performed to differing levels over the last couple of years, with Benzema remaining a key part of the team whereas Marcelo has seen himself fall behind Sergio Reguilon and Ferland Mendy over the last two campaigns.
In any case, if either player is to become the foreigner to have played the most games for Real Madrid, they will be hoping that the coronavirus pandemic comes to an end in the near future.
